About Sanuki Program

‘Sanuki’ is the old name of Kagawa. This name is synonymous
with ‘udon’, a thick wheat noodle that is wildly popular among
the local population. Udon shops are ubiquitous in all of Kagawa
and it is no wonder that Kagawa’s nickname is ‘Udon
Prefecture’. In addition, Kagawa is number one in the production
of olives, fans, and gloves. She takes pride in having the longest
walking shopping arcade in Japan, the biggest man-made lake in
Japan, and has the most number of sunny days compared to
other prefectures in Japan.

About Kagawa Prefecture

Kagawa Prefecture is the smallest prefecture in Japan, and has
a population of about 1,000,000. The climate is Mediterraneanlike, with pleasant temperatures throughout the year. Some
summers, however, can be a little hot. The cost of living is
considerably lower compared to other parts of Japan.

The university is situated in Takamatsu City (population over
400,000). It is a mid-sized city, with the main station
(Takamatsu Station) beautifully located at a seafront space
called Sunport. Takamatsu City is home to a well-known
Japanese garden called ‘Ritsurin Park’.

DIO Days: Welcome new international students around the globe

DIO Days: Welcome new international students around the globe

The COVID-19 pandemic that has occurred in all parts of the world has not dampened the enthusiasm of Diponegoro University (Undip) to provide a world-class education to the people of Indonesia and the world. This was marked by the admission of 56 foreign students from various countries such as Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Palestine, Yemen, Madagascar, Algeria, Myanmar, and others. Of the 56 foreign students, 50 students are accepted under the DISS (Diponegoro International Students Scholarship) program which is a full scholarship given by Diponegoro University to foreign students from all over the world. Admission of foreign students at Diponegoro University is carried out officially through the Diponegoro International Orientation (DIO) Day 2020 which is conducted virtually through the ZOOM Meeting on Thursday, September 10, 2020.

DIO Day 2020 was opened by the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Budi Setiyono, S.Sos., M.Pol.Admin., Ph.D. In his speech, Prof. Budi said that in the COVID-19 pandemic situation, Undip changed the learning method into virtual learning and still prioritized quality. Prof. Budi also conveyed that the staff and professionals in Undip’s environment continue to do their best by producing quality lecture materials using systems called SIAP and KULON. Not forgetting Prof. Budi congratulates the students who are accepted through the scholarship program and hopefully enjoy the online lecture activities before finally coming to Indonesia.
This activity was closed with a question and answer session conducted by foreign students who are currently studying at Undip and have lived in Indonesia for a long time, namely Lalaina Tienh Andriamampionona from Madagascar and Islam Karem Rouby Mohammed from Egypt. They (Islam and Lalaina) shared tips and tricks for new foreign students regarding experiences in Indonesia, especially in Semarang and Undip
