International Students’ Testimonial for ISWC 2020

International Students’ Testimonial for ISWC 2020

– The event / programme is quite good, and i enjoyed the whole session. It has impacted me with new skills and i recommend more of this event. In the future programme it would be better if the materials and mode yang deliver in English, to ensure simple and easy way for us as international Students to comprehend.

– Considering that the program is supposed to be attende by international students. I think that the Bahasa Indonesia would be less used to the benefit of the english language. The time too is long.

– Thanks. Event was good, i have learnt some new ideas about how to write a scientific and popular paper. I hope this knowledge will be very helpful to me and my friends. Next even organizer can be improve the following :
* Time management (starting time)
* If (in materials) possible translator (bahasa inggris)

– As far as i am concerned, this event was interesting. So far, in fact learning about writing and publshing a scientific and popular articles are the most useful opportunities for post graduate students especially international students at UNDIP. However, as this event was organized by IO Undip it should be conducted in English in order to permit all participants to understand all the context presented. Thank you so much.

– I wish to increase such lectures to be benefit more. Thank you for this work.

– Kalo bisa saat diadakan di seminar setelah mendapatkan materi dari pembicara jika bisa mengaplikasikannya di saat seminar berlangsung. Terima kasih atas undangannya.

– Today event was amazing adn beneficial for both academic and general writing. The only comment is the event is not organized well in terms of “punctual” as it is written and sent by email. Thank you Undip.

– I have no suggestion. Thank you for all thinks.

– Language of presenters: the mix of English language is not much, therefore the understanding is low. Management of Time : Guest speakers must have at least 1 hour of 30 minutes of talking and 15 minutes of questions.

– The event was good and I would like to recommend to add more as this one.

International students learn how to write in scientific journal: ISWC 2020

Semarang, io.undip.ac.id; the issue of publishing an article or paper in the scientific journal among the scholars is getting more critical. It is not only because of university ranking for Undip as an institution but also for the authors which are in this case researchers and students. Another issue is that composing a scientific paper is very tiring, even for international students. Based on this condition Diponegoro International Office conducts International Students Writing Camp (ISWC 2020).

ISWC 2020
The camp is held on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at Ruang Sidang BAA. The camp opens by the director of Diponegoro International Office, Mr. Kartika Widya Utama. He says that it is important to facilitate this kind of activity to encourage the students, in this case, international students at Diponegoro University to write more scientific articles or papers. “I believe that this camp will affect our respected institution, in terms of publishing more scientific papers” he implied.

The first part of this camp was handled by professor Istadi. He is the head of the Integrated Laboratory of Undip and a full professor in Chemical Engineering. Istadi begins the session with the introduction to all participants then continues to introduce himself as a professor. Going deeper into the main material of the camp, he then elaborates to explain how to write a scientific paper. “The keys to publish the paper in the scientific journal are: new contributions, in-depth analysis
article structure, IMRAD (Introduction, Method, Result, and Discussion), Non-IMRAD (freestyle)” he added.

The second session is with the editor in chief of regional online newspaper suarabaru.id, Mr. Widiyartono, SS. He explains in detail how to write in the several platforms i.e; blogs, website, social media and so on. Starts from how to differentiate article and essay. Article is a short kind of writing length approximately 5.000 words contains data and facts and sometimes has opinion from the writer.

Pursuing 500-World University Rangking, Undip conducts university’s internationalization workshop

Pursuing 500-World University Rangking, Undip conducts university’s internationalization workshop

Semarang, io.undip.ac.id; The vision to become a world-class research university seems not a “joke” only. It is proven that Universitas Diponegoro, well known as Undip, is very serious for striving that goal. This vision even already begins to be realized since 2005 by making Undip’s milestone and seriously implement to all aspect of Undip’s management profile. Another issue is that Undip is also very serious to deal with the university’s internationalization.

One of the important roles to boost the university’s internationalization is by appointing the vocal point to carry on international projects and programs. Undip then established the International Office or Office of International Affairs in the year 2009. International Office has specific roles such as handling international students matter, summer school programs, assisting international accreditation and handling inbound-outbound scholarship.

University’s Internationalization Roadmap

As the unit to handle the internationalization plan of the university, the International Office, shortly called IO, has a significant role play in terms of how to show Undip to the world and also to bring the world to Undip at the same. To achieve that goal, IO conducts a workshop to draw the roadmap of the university’s internationalization. Take place at Undip Inn, one of the university’s budgets hotels this event aims to build mutual understanding among Undip’s stakeholders about the internationalization. The event is from 18-19 February 2020 and attended by almost all faculty leaders. Vice Rector for Academic and Students Affairs, Professor Budi Setiyono said that we have to be more serious to recruit more international students, which is one of the parameters for international rankings. He added, “we have to shift not only the way of recruiting but also the target countries we have expose.” “ASEAN CMLV (Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam) countries are our target now and don’t forget our closest neighbor, Timor Leste also should be targeted” he implied.

Meanwhile, the Head of International Office, Kartika Widya Utama said that it is important for us to make divers international programs in order to attract more international students. Two of the best programs that we have is the Summer School and Diponegoro International Students Scholarship (DISS). “the summer school should be well managed by the faculty, while DISS will be managed by the office of international affairs. We do hope by having those programs more international students are coming and study or just visit this university” he added.

Another issue is that student visa for foreign students is very difficult to get. It potentially reduces the number of our international students. To coup this problem, Admission Center, under its manager Dr. Bambang Cahyono said that we have to adjust our admission timeline much longer than before. It is important for our international students to have more time in preparing departure to Undip.

This event ends with the final draft of Handling International Students Regulation which is discussed by all participants of the meeting. It will be then submitted to the Rector to issued and finally becomes the “holy book” how to manage international students at Diponegoro University.

What programmes for students?

NAWA offers both outgoing and incoming programmes. Polish students get the mobility opportunity being part of the Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies (CEEPUS) – the second after Erasmus+ biggest student exchange programme in Poland – and under bilateral agreements entered into with third-party countries.

Next student mobility programmes are planned to be launched over the upcoming years.

What will get our finance support?
