Programme Background
The Netherlands is home to a significant semiconductor ecosystem, with companies like ASML, NXP, ASM and BESI. The sector employs approximately 50.000 people working in 300 companies. The need to seek additional talent is growing. Therefore, the Dutch Government has developed a national reinforcement plan for microchip talent, known as the ‘Project Beethoven’. The relationships of the Netherlands with countries in Southeast Asia are of particular importance. Southeast Asia combines a young and talented human resource base, growing economies who mostly have arrived at a middle-income status, predictable governance and a welcoming environment for investment from the Netherlands and Europe.
In this context, the first Netherlands-Southeast Asia Semiconductor Short Talent Programme will be organized in 11 – 22 August 2025 in Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The programme is building on a growing track record of engagement between the Netherlands and Southeast Asian countries and considering how knowledge interests of the Netherlands are converging with interests and needs in the Southeast Asia region. It aims to strengthen cooperation and foster student mobility and professional exchange thus enhancing the interconnectedness of the Dutch ecosystem with the emerging semiconductor ecosystems in the Southeast Asia region.
Programme Objectives
- Promote the Netherlands as a portal to knowledge and business opportunities in the semiconductor industry, including strengthening positive (diplomatic, trade & investment, R&D) relations between the Netherlands and countries in Southeast Asia
- Generate interest to study and work in the Netherlands in the semiconductor field
- Contribute to the development of Southeast Asia’s high-skilled semiconductor workforce
- Improve Dutch businesses’ access to talent and promote Dutch investment in Southeast Asia
- Contribute to building a Netherlands semiconductor alumni network in Southeast Asia, which will support expanded future cooperation in the semiconductor field
Programme Components
- Lectures by Dutch Experts from Industry and Academia
- Lectures by Malaysian, and possible other Southeast Asian Experts
- Lectures by Southeast Asian Alumni who work in the Semiconductor industry in NL
- Company visits: NXP, Besi and Neways – Other companies might still be added
- Group Assignments (groups of 6 students, one from each participating country)
- Networking and Social Engagements

Target Countries – Students
- Target Countries: 6 countries in the Southeast Asia region, including Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines
- Target Students: 60 participants – 10 active master and bachelor students in STEM-related majors per country in which most possibly 2 students per university

Applicants who have been nominated by their university are expected to submit an application via the Delta platform managed by Nuffic Southeast Asia. The application will include:
1. Copy of a passport valid for at least another 6 (six) months by the end of August 2025

a. What is your motivation to participate in this short programme?
b. What are your expectations after participating in this short programme?
c. What are your plans for contributing to the development of the semiconductor industry?

FSci International Internship Program 2025 is now open for the 2nd round applications.
The duration of the program will be from June 12 to July 25, 2025 (the complimentary DMK and BKK airport pick up and drop-off arrival of the selected students will be on June 10th-11th, 2025 and July 29-30, 2025).
The selected students will receive academic research training in a laboratory, as detailed in the guidance enclosed in the application package.
Please note that no tuition fee will be charged for this program. However, there is a program fee of 30,000 THB which will cover the following expenditures:
1. On-campus dormitory (rent only, utilities not included)
2. Research equipment
3. Airport pickup and drop-off (only for selected dates)
4. Cultural Trip
There is no limit on the number of students each university can nominate.
As for the financial support for the program, we will consider one or two students from each partner university for the full scholarship (100% program fee exemption)
The details are in the guidance. All students will be asked to give internship reports and presentations. At the end of the program, the students will deliver their final presentations. If the home university authorizes the program as an internship/other course, the student will earn credits according to home university. The authorization of the credits is at the discretion of the home university, and FSci, KMUTT will not be able to interfere with the decision.
This program will assist in increasing student mobility and closer collaboration between partners. Please publicize this program to your students.

MoE Taiwan Scholarship is open for Indonesian outstanding students to pursue their degree programs (Undergraduate, Master, and Doctoral programs) in Taiwan. Not only degree program scholarship, we also provide 2025 Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) to encourage more Indonesians to learn Mandarin in Taiwan for one year. Semarang, io.undip.ac.id_Kanazawa University offers a one-year Japanese Language & Culture Program aimed at enhancing students’ Japanese language proficiency and deepening their understanding of Japanese society and culture. The program is entirely taught in Japanese and begins in October.
Qualifications
1) Institution:
Applicants must be enrolled in an institution (a university, a faculty, or a school) having an exchange
agreement with Kanazawa University.
2) Nationality:
Applicants must have the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan. An applicant who
has Japanese nationality at the time of application is not eligible. However, persons with dual nationality who
hold Japanese nationality and whose place of residence at the time of application is outside of Japan are
eligible to apply as long as they choose the nationality of the other country and renounce their Japanese
nationality by the date of their arrival in Japan.
3) Age:
In principle, applicants must be born between April 2, 1995 and April 1, 2007.
4) Academic Background:
Applicants must be enrolled in an institution mentioned above 1) as undergraduate students (junior or
senior) majoring in Japanese language or Japanese culture at the time of arriving in and leaving
Japan. Those majoring in fields of study other than Japanese language and Japanese culture and who wish
to pursue complementary studies in Japanese language and culture should apply for Kanazawa University
Exchange Program (KUEP) in the next term.
5) Japanese Language Ability:
A level equal to that of Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level N2 is required.
6) Health:
Applicants must be healthy in both physically and mentally for studying at the university.
7) Arrival in Japan:
Scholarship recipients must arrive in Japan in late September, 2025.
8) Visa Requirement:
Applicants shall, in principle, newly obtain a “Student” visa at the Japanese diplomatic mission located in the
applicant’s country of nationality, and enter Japan with the newly obtained status of residence “Student.”
Even if the applicant already has another status of residence (such as “Permanent resident” or “Long-term
resident”), they must newly obtain a “Student” visa and re-enter Japan.
Depending on the country, a tuberculosis screening may be required by the Japanese government before
entry. When obtaining a visa, be sure to follow the instructions of the Japanese diplomatic mission in your
country.
9) Others:
Scholarship recipients shall return to their home country by the end of the final month of the scholarship
period after the completion of the course and resume their studies at their school. However, if it is possible to
continue studying in Japan after the course by participating in Double-Degree program or Joint-Degree
program with their school’s partner universities in Japan and obtain an appropriate residence status, it is not
necessary to return to their home country. Also, after returning to their home country, former scholarship
recipients shall maintain close contact with Kanazawa University, cooperate with the conducting of
post-return survey questionnaires, participate in events conducted by Japanese diplomatic missions in their
country, and work to improve relations between the home country and Japan.
10) Non-Eligibility:
Any applicant who meets any one of the following conditions is ineligible. If identified ineligible after being
selected as a scholarship student, the applicant must withdraw from the scholarship.
a) Those who are military personnel or military civilian employees at the time of their arrival in Japan and the
start of scholarship payment;
b) Those who cannot arrive in Japan by the specified date determined by Kanazawa University;
c) Those who have received a Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship in the past;
d)Those who are currently also applying for another program for which scholarship payments will begin in
fiscal year 2025 through a Japanese Government (MEXT) scholarship scheme;
e) Those who are residing in Japan at the time of application;
f) Those who have a plan to receive other scholarships or fellowships from Japanese government, a
Japanese government-related organization and others after the start of the scholarship payment period;
g) Holders of dual nationality at the time of application who will not be able to verify that they have given up
Japanese nationality by the time of the arrival in Japan;
h) Those who change their status of residence of “Student” to any other status after their arrival in Japan.
i) Those who have studied Japanese Studies at a university for a total period of less than one year as of
September 1, 2025. Those who have studied Japanese Studies at another university should submit
documents (transcript of grades at other university, etc.) which can verify that the applicant has studied
Japanese Studies for a total period of at least one year or more at the attended universities including
current university.
2 Scholarship Benefits
1) Monthly Allowance:
117,000 yen
The scholarship will be paid to each recipient from October 2025 to August 2026. The scholarship is
cancelled in principle if the recipient is absent from the university for an extended period.
2) Travel allowance:
Air tickets to and from Japan
(Scholarship recipients must depart from and return to the country of their nationality. The return ticket will be
given to only those who will leave Japan by the end of August, 2026.)
3) Education fees:
Fees for the entrance examination, matriculation and tuition are waivered.
3 Application Procedure
Applicants must submit the following documents to Kanazawa University through their home institution. All
the documents must be written in either Japanese or English, or accompanied by a translation in Japanese.
1) 2025 Application Form for Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship (Japanese Studies Students)
Please enter in Japanese as much as possible. Please type instead of handwriting.
2) Research Plan written by the applicant in only Japanese (about 1000~1200 letters) with the theme “the
outline of the research plan in Japan” “日本で研究してみたいテーマ.”
3) Applicant’s ID Photo in JPEG or other digital format (4.5×3.5cm; upper front figure without a hat; taken
within the past 6 months.) Please paste the data in the designated place on the application form.
4) Certificate of Enrollment issued by the applicant’s home institution
5) Official transcript (academic record) issued by the applicant’s home institution (For all academic years up to
the current year of enrollment.)
– In case the academic record is not in a 100-point scale, please indicate a record of evaluation in a
100-point scale.
– Please mark (put a check(✓ )) the subjects concerning Japanese or Japanese culture.
– Please indicate the year and semester when each subject was taken, if not indicated on the transcript.
6) Recommendation [prescribed form] from the university president or dean of the applicant’s home institution
addressed to the President of Kanazawa University
7) Copy of the applicant’s passport (If unavailable at the time of application, please submit a photocopy of the
birth certificate or the certificate of citizenship in the applicant’s home country along with a translation in
Japanese or English.)
8) Pledge [prescribed form]
9) Certificate of Japanese-Language Proficiency Test and the result sheet
(For those who hold the certificate of the test Level 1, 2 or N1, N2 only.)
10) Nomination form [prescribed form] Please submit as an Excel file.
(Note)
If the applicant is accepted and will take part in the program as a privately financed student (without
Japanese Government scholarship), “Agreement for Defraying Expenses” with Statement of Bank Account
Balance which proves that the participant has funds equivalent to JPY 1,000,000 will be required to submit.

4 Notes
1) Applications will not be accepted if any of the above documents are incomplete, incorrect, or not supported
by evidence. Also, the applications that do not meet the deadline will not be accepted.
2) Participation in the program and payment of the scholarship will be cancelled for the reasons given below.
Should any of the following reasons apply, the recipient may be ordered to return a part of, or all of, the
scholarship paid up to that time.
a) The recipient is determined to have made a false statement on his/her application;
b) The recipient violates any article of his/her pledge (above 3-8));
c) The recipient violates any Japanese laws and is sentenced to imprisonment for an indefinite period or
for a period of exceeding 1 year. He/she who receives a suspended sentence is excluded;
d) The recipient is suspended form Kanazawa University or receives other punishment, or is removed from
enrollment; as a disciplinary action in accordance with school regulations of Kanazawa University;
e) It has been determined that it will be impossible for the recipient to complete the course within the
standard time period because of poor academic grades or suspension from the university;
f) The recipient came to Japan without a newly obtained “Student” visa, or changed his/her status of
residence of “Student” to other status;
g) The recipient has received another scholarship ( a scholarship or fellowship from Japanese
government, a Japanese government-related organization, and others) not approved for acceptance in
conjunction with the MEXT scholarship;
3) The purpose of this scholarship program is not to obtain a diploma. Therefore, a recipient cannot be
enrolled in an undergraduate course at a university or a master’s or a doctorate course at a graduate
school right after its complete.
