SEMARANG, INDONESIA — On 12-13 May, The Diponegoro International Office (DIO) of Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) proudly announces the launch of the Magnificent Javanese Interdisciplinary Course (MEJIC) 2026, an immersive short course program dedicated to exploring the rich heritage of Javanese gastronomy. The program welcomes international participants from the Diponegoro Exchange Experience Program (DEEP) scholarship, reinforcing Undip’s commitment to world-class internationalization.

About MEJIC 2026

MEJIC 2026 is a pioneering interdisciplinary program that goes far beyond the boundaries of traditional culinary education. Javanese gastronomy, as presented in this course, is understood not merely as food—but as a living embodiment of philosophy, tradition, local wisdom, and technological adaptation. Participants will engage deeply with the historical roots, cultural meanings, and contemporary evolutions of Javanese cuisine.

The program welcomes DEEP scholarship recipients from diverse international backgrounds, including students from Russia, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Vietnam, and Germany, creating a vibrant multicultural learning environment that enriches academic discussions and fosters cross-cultural understanding. This international diversity encourages participants to exchange perspectives, share experiences, and build meaningful global networks that extend beyond the classroom.

The course is thoughtfully structured to combine rigorous academic lectures with interactive discussions, culminating in a live cooking masterclass that gives participants firsthand experience of authentic Javanese culinary practices. By integrating culture, science, and sustainability, MEJIC 2026 exemplifies Undip’s vision of education as a transformative, cross-disciplinary endeavor.
